New Bind PUR System
The patented New Bind PUR System (NPS) is the heart of all New Bind machines. This independent, sealed adhesive system is unique to New Bind, and enables the use of PUR adhesive without the complications and costs associated with the external PUR systems on the market. NPS saves money, saves time, saves space, and makes high quality PUR binding truly workable for short run production. Unlike other PUR application systems on the market, New Bind’s system is built into the binding machine, and requires no additional equipment to purchase or maintain.
By eliminating the external system, there are no glue filled feed tubes running to the machine. This greatly reduces wasted adhesive and helps to preserve glue viscosity and stability. The glue pot and slotted applicator is completely sealed; this prevents the need to flush the system of adhesive after operation. In fact, the system does not require purging at all – you can shut down the machine after a short run, and then start it right back up the next day within minutes.
The sealed design of the glue pot and the precision slotted application system also eliminate smoke and fumes, making for a healthier work environment for machine operators as well as their coworkers. Glue flow is completely adjustable via a compressed air regulator and can be applied in such thin coats that glue waste is nearly eliminated. Additionally, the starting and stopping point along the length of the spine is completely adjustable – no more applying glue to 11” of spine for a 9” book!
Finally, the New Bind PUR System requires very little maintenance. The operator simply coats the extrusion heads with purge material and then closes the glue heads to prevent air from entering the slots and side glue ports. Heat is disabled via the touch screen control panel, or when the binding machine is turned off. These two steps are all that is needed to shut the system down safely, and it all can be completed in less than 5 minutes.
